Excellencia 2020, a fitting felicitation for the students who secured distinction in the PU Board Final Exam 2020, was celebrated virtually and streamed on YouTube on 28 November 2020. Ms Maria Thendral, the emcee for the programme, extended a warm welcome and invited the Prayer team to invoke God’s blessings on the occasion. The SJPUC choir rendered a soulful invocation, and the teachers reflected on scripture readings and prayer. Ms. Savitha from the Department of Electronics delivered the welcome address and Ms. Maria Thendral introduced the Chief Guest for the day, Mr. Mohammed Ziaulla Khan, Asst. Director, Dept. of Grant and Aid, PU Board of Education. Mr. Khan appreciated the grit and commitment of the students in achieving this feat despite the pandemic. He congratulated the toppers, distinction holders, and those who passed the Board Exam, not forgetting to encourage students who failed to clear this year’s exam. He motivated them to tread steadily in their chosen path and to strive to make a difference. The Principal, Rev. Fr Melvin Lobo SJ presented the prestigious awards to the toppers, Mohd Yasir Arfath, Shreyans Kumar, and Gogul Raaj from the Arts, Commerce, and Science Streams respectively. In his presidential address, he congratulated the young achievers for their excellence and thanked the management and faculty members. The distinction holders’ photos with their scores were displayed to honour their accomplishment. Mr Roger Doss, the President of the OBA, SJPUC, reminisced his days as the President of the Student Council. He urged the achievers to follow the college motto of Faith and Toil and to emulate the values that the institution has taught them. The students of the present batch entertained the audience with a medley of songs and a dance performance. Ms. Marlin from the Department of Biology proposed the vote of thanks. The celebration culminated with the rendering of the College Anthem.
