ECO VISIT TO GKVK UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES

Students' Visit to GKVK University was organized by the Department of Entomology. Students were introduced to the intriguing world of insects and the mighty kingdom of Arthropods, including colorful butterflies, moths, bugs, beetles, and many more. This world of insects contributes exponentially to ensuring the balance of our ecosystem.
The Department of Sericulture which was completely surrounded by huge, lush green fields of mulberry plants was the highlight of the visit. The professors in the Department were kind and cheerful souls who took great pleasure in explaining the detailed biological process behind producing silk, starting from their pupae to the adult formation of cocoon and extraction of silk which comes to us in various forms to the students. The process, preparation, collection, and marketing of commercially used silkworms were explained in great detail to the students.
Following the visit to the Agriculture Lab, students were taken to the Department of Horticulture. Later they were led to the green net field to witness the process of grafting, bagging, and emasculation. It was surely an enriching experience to behold large areas of flora with numerous plants. The visit proved to be extremely interesting and informative. It was a day filled with productivity and active learning.
